What is the nature of God?
Let us start with defining what is nature.
Nature is all the animals, plants, and other things in the world that are not made by people, and all the events and processes that are not caused by people.
God created nature so he is not of it. It is written
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
So, what is spirit?
Spirit is the force or principle of life that animates the body of living things
It is written:
Ge 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.
It is rather difficult to explain because God is invisible. How can the visible (humans) explain what cannot be seen or measured? In a way, men can understand. This is where faith begins because you must first believe that He (God) is. Hebrews 6:11
Paul writes these words:
Ro 8:3 It is impossible to do what God’s standards demand because of the weakness our human nature has. But God sent his Son to have a human nature as sinners have and to pay for sin. That way God condemned sin in our corrupt nature.
God who is a spirit. Used part of himself to create all living things because He is life. And He is able to give life to everything on this planet. The nature of God’s being is kindness, mercy, and love.
Ro 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Love is a misunderstood English word because of what Hollywood has done with it. Love is not only feelings but what you do and don’t do.
I am getting off track. Let us look at the nature of God throughout the testaments. The scriptures are there to tell us about him and his relationship with man (human beings). He is the father of us all no matter where we come from or are born into.
God is patient and long-suffering.
God has wrath.
As any good parent needs to correct their children to ensure they learn good behaviors. God chastises those whom he loves. And yes he chastises every one of us.
How, by causing calamities in our lives to cause us to turn to him. This is but a brief exposure to the nature of God. You should book a bible study to dive deeper into this topic.
