Which Way Are You Going Spiritually?

When you don't know spiritually which way to go in life and that lost feeling of no directions is inside of you.

spiritual direction toward the kingdom of God

Have you ever felt lost—not just physically, but in life? Maybe it’s that moment when you’re staring at a crossroads, unsure of which path to take. Before smartphones gave us GPS, getting lost was a bit more literal. I remember planning a drive from San Diego to New York and relying on paper maps to figure out the route. But there were also times I didn’t have a map and thought, I’ll figure it out on my own. Inevitably, I’d end up stopping to ask for directions.

Life can feel like that sometimes. We try to navigate on our own, but at some point, we find ourselves wondering, Am I even going the right way?

In the search for direction, many people have found meaning in the words of Jesus: “I am the Way” (John 14:6). In the early days of Christianity, believers weren’t called Christians—they were known simply as “The Way” (Acts 9:2; 19:9, 23). It wasn’t just a label; it described a way of living, of being.

So what does that mean for us today? It’s not about following a rigid set of rules. It’s about discovering a path that leads to purpose, connection, and something greater than ourselves. Jesus’ teachings offer a roadmap—a way to approach life that emphasizes compassion, integrity, and justice.

Jeremiah 21:8 puts it plainly: "Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death."

The choice is ours.

The way of life means pursuing what’s right, making things right, and finding meaning in something deeper than ourselves. As Proverbs 8:20 says: "I walk in the way of righteousness, in the paths of justice."

It’s about choosing kindness over indifference, and growth over stagnation. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about seeking and growing.

So, what about you? Which way are you going to follow?
